The NAEA Research Commission continues to advocate for a vibrant research culture that produces and disseminates innovative research that informs art education practice, theory, and policy as an important context for Convention goals. As such, the NAEA Research Commission seeks proposals for participation in Poster Presentations, to take place during the first 2 days of the 2025 NAEA National Convention, March 20 and 21, in Louisville, KY.
The 2025 NAEA Research Commission Poster Presentations are generously supported by the National Art Education Foundation and are open to all 2025 NAEA National Convention registrants.
The NAEA Research Commission invites researchers from across NAEA membership to consider submitting a Poster Presentation proposal on new and innovative contributions to research related to inquiries in the field of art education and from allied or related fields. We are seeking a diverse slate of presenters representing a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and voices. We strive to foster a culture of inclusion and encourage submissions from all educators, including preservice students, teachers, museum and community educators, and university faculty members. To diversify the voices sharing presentations, we particularly encourage preservice students, graduate students, in-service teachers, and museum educators to apply.
Poster Presentations will be held in person at the 2025 NAEA National Convention in the Exhibit Hall. Presenters must be present to discuss the poster during an assigned 50-minute presentation time. Presentations may be delivered by one main presenter and a maximum of two co-presenters.
Poster Presentations Defined
Poster Presentations are an important opportunity for researchers from all NAEA Divisions to present and discuss their work with an audience. These presentations are more informal than traditional research presentations, and several Poster Presentations will take place simultaneously at one time. Poster presenters may report on either in-progress or completed research projects.
Presenters will be required to prepare a 2- to 5-minute oral summary of their research for an assigned 50-minute presentation. Presenters will give their presentation multiple times during their assigned 50 minutes while sharing a 42 x 72 in. printed poster that will be on display throughout the time of the Convention. Presenters are expected to remain by their poster during their assigned presentation time to talk to Convention attendees as they circulate among the posters in the Exhibit Hall.
